The BioSage

As the company’s core product, the BioSage, integrates automated whole food sample preparation (Ag-Defense Systems’ BioPrep module) with real-time PCR/analytics and interfaces directly with new food safety systems for a real-time, full chain, turnkey food safety solution. This system will enable real-time contamination detection, analysis, and risk mitigation for an effective preventive approach to food safety.

The BioPrep

Our first product will be an automated whole food sample preparation device called the BioPrep.  A prototype of this device is under development and is expected to be completed by February of 2010.  This instrument will be able to extract and purify DNA from a 25 gram sample of any food material and associated pathogens.  The purified DNA sample can then be used in analytical equipment, such as real-time PCR instruments for the detection and quantification of contaminating pathogens.  In addition to integration within the BioSage, Ag-Defense Systems’ BioPrep module can be configured as a stand-alone sample preparation product or as a modular subcomponent for integration into other existing analytics equipment.
